Elite Basketball Training workouts are not only about working hard, but also working smart. The goal is to create the complete basketball player, a player that has the ability to dribble, pass, and shoot while also being stronger, faster, and more agile than their opponent. To accomplish this takes a lot of hard work and upon first look should take an inordinate amount of time. With today’s young athletes having a busier schedule than ever, time is of the essence, and taking a lot of time to work out is not always an option. That is where training smart must come into play.
To make use of time more efficiently, my workouts often combine skill training with speed, agility, and strength training. For example, we will use an agility ladder in our shooting drills or in the case of the video below, post play drills. Doing so ensures that we are maximizing the time we have to work out in order to cover as many aspects of training as we can. In the following video the player demostrates a series of agility ladder moves that she completes before she sets up in the low post and works on a specific finishing move. It should be noted that this drill can be done with any agility ladder movements as well as any post moves that you chose. Either way, combining your agility ladder training is a great way to make your time more efficient and train multiple facets of your game.
