With basketball season well underway, I decided to do some research and take a look at how last summer’s basketball bootcamp survivors were faring in their seasons. This group of guys committed two days a week for the majority of the summer to the intense basketball specific strength, speed, and conditioning workouts that the bootcamp provided and the results were evident as each one of the guys that attended is having success at their respective schools.

A litte over a month ago I received a very inspiring email, one that makes all the time and effort that I put into my business worth it. It was from a coach, Dan How, in a small rural town in Illinois whose son’s eighth grade team had been successful but were looking to take it to the next level.

The training routine that the Univeristy of Missouri’s men’s basketball strength coach David Deets puts the players through is just the type of rugged, no-nonsense training that I have been preaching on my site since I started it. Missouri’s fast-paced and aggressive pressing style of play has forced Deets to come up with a strength and conditioning program that mirrors that style thereby ensuring that the players are in great shape, not only at the end of the game, but also at the end of the season. However, this begs the question, why aren’t all teams training like this?

Basketball players need to be a well rounded athlete. They need to have strength, speed, quickness, explosive power, and stamina. Consequently all of these components need to be worked into your basketball training routine. The four day workout provided below will go a long way towards helping build strength and explosive power. It will also help build up your speed because simply stated, the stronger you are, the faster you can move.

Having to go to the gym or weightroom every day to strength train for basketball can get monotonous. Lifting the same weights and doing the same exercises day in and day out. At Elite Basketball Training we strive to break that monotony by getting away from the norm.
