Tomorrow is a New Day

On Monday, my high school team threw in one of the worst practices of the early season if not ever.  It was one of those days where nothing went right.  The level of enthusiasm was low from the start, nobody was clapping for each other, communication was non-existent, and the drills were poorly run.  WE EVEN TRIED TO RUN THE FIVE MAN WEAVE WITH FOUR GUYS…TWICE!  Like I said, things were bad.

Ironically enough, an email came to me yesterday entitled, “Tomorrow is a New Day” and along with it came this audio.

So when yesterday’s practice started, this became its focus.  Monday’s practice is in the past.  It is over and the worst thing we can do is dwell on it.  As a team, we need to learn from the mistakes we made that day and make the necessary adjustments to ensure that it never happens again.  My team did a great job of this.  For as bad as Monday’s practice was, Tuesday was equally as good.

As frustrating as it may be at the time, having a bad practice or a bad game can be a good thing.  The mistakes that are made in a bad practice allow you to to see what is wrong and fix it.  It allows you to learn and grow as a player.  In a perfect world, this does not happen. There will be no mistakes and that will hinder learning and ultimately advancement.  So the next time you have a bad practice or bad day, take it as a positive, find the problems, fix them, and remember that tomorrow is a new day.
